The current wave of monsoon would cover the shortfall in rain in the country this season. Talking to AIR, DG of India Meteorological Department KG Ramesh said in next few days good rainfall will cover the loss.
Media reports yesterday suggested that the southwest monsoon has remained weak in recent weeks which has widened the country’s total rainfall deficit for the season to six percent. However, weather office says a late pick-up in rainfall activity cannot be ruled out. Officials said, they will wait till the end of this month to say whether cumulative rainfall will actually be below normal. Mr Ramesh said, there are signs of revival in the second half of September.
